S6E25: You’ve made some truly excellent decisions this week

Full transcript:

Good morning, happy Friday and welcome to the Language Confidence Project, the daily dose of language courage for people who love languages and those who really don’t, but have to learn one anyway. It’s Friday, you’ve made it to the end of another week, and I just wanted to come in and say, you’ve done a good job.

Because even if this week has felt really ordinary, even if this week has felt long or like a lot of effort, you will definitely have made some excellent decisions this week. You will definitely have made choices that you can 100% be proud of today and that got you that bit closer to your big goals.

Remember, they don’t need to be big decisions. They don’t need to have brought about a huge transformation or set you on a different path than you were on last week. But they count.

  • The decision to listen to that thing in Spanish while you were washing up.

  • The decision to reach out to that new person on a language exchange app.

  • The decision to get up that little bit earlier so you could study. Ideally, the decision to go to bed a little bit earlier the night before so you could get up earlier without being tired.

  • The decision to say yes to something. The decision to say no to something.

  • The decision to start a thing and the decision that enough’s enough, we’re finishing a thing.

  • The decision to ask a question, instead of struggling alone.

  • You’ve made so many decisions this week.

So tell yourself about them.

Thank yourself for making them.

Because they all accumulate into a pathway that gets you to where you’re trying to go. They all add up. So often, we’re looking to the big epiphanies and the big breakthroughs and hailing them as the moment that everything changed, but really, it’s all the tiny decisions that created the weight to push the balance. They mean everything to your journey.

And if you want to support the work I do and meet some amazing people at the same time, I would love to invite you to join our community of colourful, mission-driven and multipassionate language learners on Patreon. We have a monthly meetup to get together and talk all things language, productivity and creativity, weekly joint study and coworking sessions In the Creative Space so you don’t have to do this alone, and if you have a question that you’d love some help with, there’s a monthly Q&A too, where you get personalised advice from me. I would love for you to join us.

Have a wonderful day, and a wonderful weekend, and I will see you back here on Monday.
